Well-being and Support
Supporting our Students
Student Well-being
We believe it is important to create a safe environment where everyone can flourish and fulfil their potential.
Our students’ well-being and support is our utmost priority and as such, is one of the six core values that underpin everythng we do at GIS. Social and Emotional learning is integral for our learners to establish positive identities, feel a sense of belonging and develop agency. To achieve this, learners need to acquire and apply knowledge, attitudes and skills to understand and navigate their own emotions, set and achieve positive personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy and respect for others, maintain supportive relationships and make responsible decisions.

Support at GIS
How we are supporting our Students
Our EAL, Learning Support, Counselling and Medical teams are all on hand to ensure that each child has exactly what they need to be happy and successful during their time with us.
Access to Learning
Learning Support
Our commitment to being inclusive at GIS means we endeavour to meet the individual needs of all the students in our care. We do this by providing a supportive environment which recognises and respects students’ different talents and learning differences, backgrounds and cultures.
Our highly qualified team of dedicated Learning Support teachers provide specialised in-class and additional support across all year groups at GIS, depending on the individual student's needs. We recognise that we are a mainstream school and therefore we are responsibly inclusive, supporting the social, emotional, academic and physical needs as per our internal capacity.
Language Support
English as an Additional Language (EAL) Support
We acknowledge and celebrate the fact that many of our students come to us with a rich experience and knowledge of languages other than English. Our specialist teachers support our EAL students as they develop their English skills, so that they can access all areas of the curriculum confidently, enabling them to thrive. We offer both in-class and additional support across all year groups.
Well-being and Care
Counselling & Well-being
At Garden International School Kuala Lumpur, we believe that psychological well-being underpins all successful learning. We feel that our students will benefit in the long term from learning how to care for their own emotional health. To facilitate this, we have a specialist counselling team who are well equipped to support our students, and their families, in one-to-one, in-class and transition sessions.
Physical Well-being
Health Centre
The Health Centre takes a proactive approach to preventive healthcare, promoting the life skills required to support students in managing all aspects of health in the future, whilst also providing the care and monitoring required if students are unwell in school. Our Health Centre staff manage all health care plans, liasing with parents and staff, and remain on-call throughout the school day to ensure that all students remain safe and well cared for whilst on campus.
