For yet another year, our IGCSE and A Level results place us amongst the best British international schools in the world. Our students’ performance is a true testament to their dedication and hard work, our innovative learning culture and talented, supportive teaching faculty.
We are incredibly proud of these achievements and extend our congratulations to our students, their families and their teachers. Thank you all for bringing out the best in our community.
Our results are particularly impressive, given the large size of our student cohorts and the inclusive nature of our school. We accept students from a wide range of abilities and academic backgrounds, and yet consistently achieve some of the finest academic results in the world. This year was certainly no exception, with an incredible number of A*/A grades!
A Level (Year 13)
In 2020, we celebrate our best set of A Level results in ten years, with 100 A Level students graduating from our Sixth Form with a 100% pass rate. 81% of the grades awarded were A*/A (over 35% given A* & above), with an astonishing 70% of our students achieving straight A*/A across their subjects.
Our consistently strong results at A Level, combined with our outstanding personalised GIS Diploma programme, ensure our graduates are in demand by the world’s top universities. This year, 10 GIS students accepted offers to study Medicine or Dentistry in the UK, and a further 9 students are going on to study at Oxbridge or Ivy League universities.
AS Level (Year 12)
At AS level, an incredible 87% of all grades were A-B*, with an overall pass rate of 100%. Our 89 AS students are essentially half way through their A-Level qualifications, so these results are extremely promising.
*Please note that A* grades are not awarded at AS Level; these are only available in Year 13 at the completion of the A Level qualification.
IGCSE
This year, we had 120 dedicated students sit exams across 29 subjects, with an incredible 76% of these grades awarded A/A*.
Outstanding Value-Added
Put simply, ‘value-added’ data shows the impact a school’s teaching and learning has on a child’s academic achievement.
At GIS, our Value Added score for A Level is +1.0. This means that our outstanding teachers make the difference of approximately one grade on average for each student in each subject! These results far exceed those of any private school in the UK.
This reflects both the high calibre of our teaching faculty and the innovative learning culture that permeates all that we do at GIS, ensuring every student is given every opportunity to meet and exceed their potential.
“In a year of real uncertainty and unprecedented times, our students across the board have again shown what it means to be a graduate from GIS: resilience, perseverance, excellence and a positive attitude which has given them results to be exceptionally proud of. They have worked hard through the challenges of school closure, cancellations of exams and online learning, and their results speak volumes of the character and skills they have developed.
Our value added across the board demonstrates performance above expected levels of attainment and demonstrates the stretch and challenge our students rise to each year. Thank you for the collaborative relationships between students, teachers and parents to make this possible.
We wish all departing GIS students all the best with their onward studies. You are still very much a part of our GIS community and we know will continue on to great success in the future. We also welcome back a significant number of students into our sixth form, as well as our returning A2 students, and we are excited about the learning ahead of us all this year.”
