What makes our Teachers special
Highest Quality Teachers
Our teaching staff are all highly qualified subject specialists, many of whom have been awarded Masters degrees and PhDs from world class institutions. Not only does this enable them to lead pedagogy in their field, but it means that our students are inspired by the very best.
The learning never stops
We are a true learning community, and the ongoing professional development of our teachers is at the heart of what makes the GIS experience unique. We know we have to provide the very best for our students, because why should they deserve any less?

Adult SEL programme
Social & Emotional Learning
Our school mission is to be global leaders in building brave, brilliant and inquisitive young people who are committed to the positive growth of themselves and others. This requires students to develop so much more than academic excellence, as we promote emotional intelligence, self-awareness and social adaptability.
We do all of this through our pastoral support and curriculum programme, explicitly teaching SEL (social and emotional learning) to our students in class. But a curriculum alone is not enough, as research shows that the adults in children’s lives need to work on their own self-awareness and relationship skills to demonstrate and model what we teach.
So we invested in an Adult SEL programme for all of the staff at the school, to complement our teacher training for teaching SEL to students. This has involved dedicated training with experts in this field. We will now roll out a similar SEL programme for any parents who wish to learn more and develop their own competencies.

What our staff are saying
What makes GIS special
For me, it is the connections that form between each student and their teachers that makes GIS so special. These evolve from a teacher's dedication to personalised learning and the student’s drive to achieve and develop the skills required to take ownership of their own lives.
Dr Michael Browning
Head of Sixth FormThe positive, supportive and welcoming community makes GIS a wonderful place to work. The way that everybody goes above and beyond to make things happen and help each other is very special indeed. Nothing is too much trouble here: if you need something then people will go out of their way to make sure you have it.
