What Makes a Successful Woman? Nurturing Ambition at GIS.
Think Big, Aim High
At GIS, we hope that our students will leave us feeling inspired to think big and aim high. We want them to know that it’s ok to take risks, because learning and adapting is a key part of life. We pride ourselves on celebrating our diversity as a school community, and offering a wide range of leadership opportunities to students of all ages. Why? Because that’s what we believe is critical to nurturing ambition, within a safe, happy and supportive environment.
Maintaining Connections
Maintaining connections across our community is also important to us, and we love celebrating the successes of our alumni. After all, this is how we know that what we do is working. When Tatler asked to feature three of our inspiring entrepreneurial alumna, it became clear that many of the key things they attributed to their success stemmed from their time as students at GIS.
An Inspiring Trio
Self proclaimed fervent foodie, Lyn Siew (class of 2000), is a KL-based restaurateur who credits GIS with teaching her ‘to appreciate diversity, challenge the status quo and develop resilience.’ Reminiscing on her time at school, Raja Jesrina Arshad (class of 2000), health fanatic and cofounder of PurelyB.com says, “My biggest takeaway from school was that we are limitless! If we work hard enough and have great support, there’s really nothing we can’t achieve.” The third of the trio, Malisse Tan (class of 2005) , an entrepreneur, has overcome numerous challenges thrown at her and is now Founder of Bobble. She says that being at GIS helped her to develop her sense of identity, giving her the confidence to aim high and ensuring that she was given plenty of leadership opportunities: ‘I left school feeling sure of who I was; self-reliant and capable.’
#Packedforlife
Inspiring entrepreneurs and excellent role models for our younger generations of female students, this trio are GIS personified. What great examples to show how we shape experiences to ensure that our students are #packedforlife.
