Despite being amongst a small minority of students in the world to physically sit their Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examinations, GIS students have once again demonstrated their hard work, resilience and determination by achieving exceptional examination results in 2021.
Confirming our position as one of the world’s leading British international schools, we congratulate everyone across the community who played their role in enabling our students to exceed their potential.
Our results are particularly impressive given the challenges posed by the pandemic, the large size of our student cohorts and the inclusive nature of our school. Forced school closures have meant that students have had limited time on campus, but the outstanding quality of our online learning provision and the strict adherence to carefully crafted SOPs ensured that students, who are of a wide range of abilities and academic backgrounds, were given every opportunity to thrive. This year was certainly no exception, with some incredible results across both our A Level and iGCSE cohorts.
These outstanding results are a clear indication of the hard work and dedication shown by everyone across the board. Despite the challenging circumstances, we were able to proceed with the exams on campus following strict safety procedures. Congratulations to all of our students, teachers and parents! I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a community. –Michael Bardsley, Principal

In 2021, we celebrate yet another highly successful year of exam results for students across our IGCSE, AS and A level courses —the percentage of top grades across the board is a phenomenal achievement! Whilst top grades are certainly cause for celebration, our personalised learning approach at GIS ensures we support every student to exceed their potential. This year’s data shows exactly how successful this approach is- with all of our students exceeding the expectations projected from standardised external baseline tests.
This does not happen by accident, but is the work of students, parents and teachers at GIS all working together as part of a community of learning. Saying goodbye to our graduating students is always bittersweet; we feel both the sadness of them leaving, and excitement about the diverse and wonderful opportunities they are moving onto next. Happily, we also welcome the largest ever Sixth Form cohort to Year 12 this year with a great number of year 11s choosing to continue their journey with us for the next two years.
Our holistic approach to learning and academic care, instilling the core values of GIS, leaves me confident that our students will flourish in the coming year whatever challenges come their way. –Amy Ward, Head of Secondary

‘Incredible’ and ‘inspiring’ are apt words to describe the results of our tenacious sixth form students this year. They have met such adversity and demonstrated immeasurable levels of adaptability throughout this transformative phase in their lives. We are all immensely proud of their results and even more so, of the character they have shown in such uncertain times. It has been fantastic to see our students receive university offers from more than 10 different countries.
This really shows how our school vision to instill a global perspective and mission to develop global leaders is being realised by the student body. We would like to wish every success and happiness to the graduating class of 2021 and look forward to hearing more about their adventures over the coming months and years. –Michael Browning, Head of Sixth Form
